Did you know that your homes sale price may be affected by the color of your home? Generally, home sellers will repaint their homes before listing it on the market- this is a good idea as it will freshen up your home and attract buyers.

But sellers must also be aware of the colors that can LOWER their homes final selling price. Check out why you should stay away from colors like brown, yellow, white, and grey!

1. Brown

Painting the interior of your home brown can lower the price of your home by at least $1,000. Stay away from darker shades of brown or browns with yellow undertones, these shades can make your home seem dark and uninviting to potential home buyers.

2. Yellow

According to Zillow homes that were painted yellow on the exterior sold for almost $3,000 less than other homes. You will want to stay away from yellows with brown undertones, bright yellows, or creamy yellows.

3. Off-White

This may be surprising but research shows that homes that are painted off-white may be unappealing to prospective buyers. This color may make your home seem dirty, off-white colors can sometimes cause the illusion of faded/old paint.

4. Grey

You might think that grey is a safe and neutral color but there are certain shades of grey that you should stay away from. Dark grey colors may actually cause your home to look darker and smaller than it actually is.
